Privacy Policy — TruthLens
Last updated: 13 July 2026
TruthLens ("the App", "we", "us") is an AI-powered tool that helps users check
whether news, images, and videos may be fake or AI-generated. This Privacy Policy
explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and your choices. By
using TruthLens you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
- Account information — when you sign in with Google, we receive
your name, email address, profile photo, and a Google account identifier
(via Firebase Authentication).
- Content you submit for analysis — the news text, images, or
videos you choose to check. These are sent to our server (and trusted AI
providers) only to produce a result.
- Device identifier — an anonymous ID used to track your daily
usage limits before you sign in.
- Usage & scan history — the checks you run and their results,
so you can view your history and we can enforce fair-use quotas.
- Basic analytics — anonymous app-usage events (via Firebase
Analytics) to understand feature usage and improve the App.
2. How we use your information
- To analyse the content you submit and return a fake / real / deepfake result.
- To maintain your account, history, and daily usage limits.
- To operate, secure, and improve the App.
We do not sell your personal data, and the App contains
no advertising.
3. Sharing with third parties
To perform detection we share the content you submit with service providers,
strictly to process your request:
- Google Firebase — authentication and analytics.
- AI detection providers — e.g. Groq and Google Gemini (news
& image analysis) and, for Pro users, Sightengine (deepfake analysis).
- Public fact-check & search sources — used to find and cite
evidence for news claims.
These providers process data under their own privacy policies. We do not share
your data with anyone for advertising or resale.
4. Data storage & security
All communication between the App and our server is encrypted using HTTPS. Your
account data and scan history are stored on our secured server. We retain scan
history to power the in-app history feature; you may request deletion at any time
(see Contact).
5. Your choices & rights
- You can sign out at any time from the app's Settings.
- You can request deletion of your account data and scan history by emailing us.
- You control which content you submit for analysis.
6. Children
TruthLens is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect
personal information from them.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by
the "Last updated" date above.
